Deena graduated from the University of Georgia in 2012 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Always eager to enhance her degree, Deena started taking classes to receive her ESOL endorsement during her first year of teaching. Since then, she has received her Gifted Certification and multiple trainings in the Orton–Gillingham approach. She is currently completing the practicum to become OG certified.
Deena has always had a passion for working with children. At a very young age it was clear that teaching was her calling. She got married in November of 2021 and lives with her husband, two daughters, and two mini golden doodles in West Midtown.
Deena created Extra Mile Tutoring in 2018 to help meet the needs of as many students as possible. As a former elementary school teacher, she realized the amount that can be accomplished in a small group and one-on-one environment. Watching her students learn and grow from these small, personalized settings, helped solidify the benefits gained from tutoring.
She believes in planning creative, individualized lessons designed to engage each student, promote confidence, and keep students learning. She has grown Extra Mile Tutoring from these ideals, adding other highly qualified, passionate tutors to the team that share her same teaching beliefs and goals. Deena cares about all her students and will continue to go the extra mile to ensure all EMT students are receiving the instruction needed to reach their educational goals, while fostering a love for learning.

Mallory Jones grew up in the small town of Eatonton, Georgia. She has worked with young children her whole life and soon realized that teaching was her absolute passion. Mallory attended the University of Georgia and received her degree in Early Childhood Education in 2014. Mallory taught first grade for 4 years in Woodstock, GA. She married her high school sweetheart in 2015 and they have one son named Cooper. They now reside in Watkinsville, GA. GO DAWGS!

Anne has been working in Education for over 25 years, both in Dekalb and in Gwinnett County. She is a Certified Special Education teacher for Pre-K through 8th grade. Anne has received professional training in the Orton-Gillingham approach and was on the Advisory Council of Stem for Every Child. Anne created and directs Camp Read and Roam, a summer camp that combined a novel study with direct guided reading, and daily field trips related to the content of the novel.
She has taught both general and special education students from Kindergarten through 5th grade. Teaching is a lifelong passion for Anne; she has a fun, consistent and gentle approach to teaching her students. Anne’s teaching style uses multi-sensory strategies to help all students reach their greatest potential.

Anne has been with Extra Mile Tutoring since 2021.

Abby grew up in Memphis, TN. She received her Masters of Arts in Teaching degree with an endorsement in reading from the University of Georgia in 2016. Since then, she has been teaching 2nd grade.
She loves hands-on learning and has a "learn through play" philosophy. She believes in meeting kids where they are, which is best met in a small group or one on one setting. Abby loves the relationships she builds with students and parents. Teaching is a team effort. Together, we can go the extra mile!

Abby has been with Extra Mile Tutoring since 2021.

Amanda grew up in the Atlanta area and was a classroom teacher for 15 years before joining the Extra Mile Tutoring team. She graduated from Mercer University in 2006 with a degree in Early Childhood Education, and then earned a Master of Education Degree in 2009. While in the third grade classroom, Amanda has worked with a variety of students with unique needs and challenges. In 2017 she was named Teacher of the Year for her elementary school, and in 2020 she received her Gifted Certification.
Amanda loves creating student focused lessons with real world connections. She feels building strong relationships with each child and using a hands-on approach are key components to student success. Amanda loves putting her many years of classroom experience to work in the tutoring arena. Her goal as an educator continues to be for students to love learning and thrive.

Darrian Love grew up in the small town of McColl, South Carolina. He has worked with young children since 2013 in many capacities, summer camp programs, early & reading intervention, and applied behavior analysis and realized that teaching was his absolute passion. Darrian attended Coker University formerly known as Coker College and received his degree in Psychology with a concentration in Counseling in 2017. He also holds an additional Bachelor degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Exercise Science from Coker as well. Darrian will officially receive his Master of Education this spring of 2024 as he finishes up his research study: The Impact of Intentional & Rigorous E-Learning on Student Outcomes. Darrian taught K-12 ESL, first grade, second grade, and currently teaches Kindergarten and ESL K-7 in the Pee Dee Region of South Carolina. Darrian enjoys designing curriculum and educational materials, trying new restaurants, and binge watching drama series with his dog; Hulkleberry.

Darrian believes that teaching the whole child will position the child to be successful not only academically, but socially and emotionally. Seeing students eager to learn and are excited to learn something new in their learning path is his top priority. From his remote experience & graduate research he believes that online learning can be impactful, rigorous and fun just like in person learning! From his classroom experience, he believes that working with students and finding out where they are academically, and working with the student at their level will allow each student’s needs to be met and progress made. Darrian will go the extra mile to help every student be successful.

India Graden grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina where she developed a passion for education and working with children. India attended Howard University and received her first degree in history. After working in the nonprofit sector for a few years, India realized direct service was her true calling and returned to school to receive her master's degree in Special Education. India has been teaching elementary-level special education for 5 years and tutoring for over a decade.

India's teaching philosophy is that education should not only instill knowledge but also confidence and a joy of learning. As a special education teacher, India is a firm believer in individualized instruction and loves tailoring lessons to not only a student's level of need but also their personality! India's motto is learning should be as enjoyable as possible and she will go the extra mile to ensure the success of her students!

India has been with Extra Mile Tutoring since 2022.

Kelly graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2010 with a degree in Early Childhood Education and later received a gifted and reading endorsement. She has 11 years of classroom experience teaching elementary school students. Kelly has taught first through third grades, with most of her experience being in 2nd grade. She currently resides in Watkinsville, GA with her husband and three kids.

Kelly loves creating a positive learning environment where individual needs and learning styles are met. She loves getting the opportunity to build relationships with students while helping them learn and grow.

Kelly has been with Extra Mile Tutoring since 2024.

Maggie graduated from Clemson University with her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (Go Tigers!). She grew up in the Oak Grove area and is excited to be back. She has experience with teaching all core subjects and a passion for working with young learners. Maggie believes that tutoring can help students stay motivated, build confidence, catch up on key skills and get more personal attention. She loves to use games and interactive lessons to keep students engaged and encouraged while learning!

Maggie loves to help students reach their goals and is even working to reach her own personal goals as she is currently pursuing her master’s degree in speech language pathology at Georgia State!

Maggie has been with Extra Mile Tutoring since 2023.

Melanie has been working in education for over 10 years. She is a certified elementary education teacher for pre-k through fifth grade from Shorter University. She has earned her master’s degree from Walden University with a major in curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Melanie also received her ESOL endorsement through UGA and her gifted in-field endorsement.

Most of her experience has been in teaching 2nd and 3rd grades all subjects. Melanie has worked with students from a variety of backgrounds. She was a full-time digital teacher for one school year during the pandemic. Melanie enjoys making lessons and activities fun and enjoyable while using students’ interests, strengths, and areas for growth to help guide her instruction. She is very creative and makes it a goal to use that creativity in helping students to achieve their best.

Melanie is currently an elementary school media specialist and loves integrating literacy into all other subjects.

Melanie has been with Extra Mile Tutoring since 2023.

Shalonda was born and raised in Rochester, New York. Her passion for working with young children stemmed from a volunteer experience in high school where she volunteered in a kindergarten classroom, which is where her passion for being a strong foundation for students began.

She attended North Carolina A&T for undergrad and majored in Child Development and Family Studies Birth through Kindergarten education. She attended Mercer University and received a master’s degree in Higher Education Leadership. Shalonda has 9 years of experience as a classroom teacher with ages/grades ranging from 3 years old through second grade. She is also an experienced bible study teacher including elementary, middle, and high school aged students.

Along with her many years of experience as an educator, she has also worked in various leadership roles in educational settings, such as project manager, program coordinator, and PTA president. She has also worked with children with developmental delays from birth through three years old as an early intervention therapist. Shalonda is strongly committed to ensuring students of all ages reach their fullest potential and she is dedicated to guiding them along their educational journeys.

Shalonda has been with Extra Mile Tutoring since 2022.

Middle School and High School Tutors

Cassi Johnson grew up in the small town of Maud, Texas. She has worked with middle school age children for most of her 15-year teaching career. Teaching mathematics is her educational passion. Cassi attended Texas A&M University-Texarkana and received her degree in Early Childhood Education in 2006. She is certified to teach PK-8th grades and is currently finishing up her Masters degree in Mathematics Curriculum and instruction at the University of Texas at Arlington. Cassi has taught 6th-8th grade math for over a decade in her home town of Maud, Texas, and prior to that she taught both Pre-K and Kindergarten in Shreveport, LA.

Cassi believes that while making student learning fun and engaging is important, building relationships with her students is as well. Seeing her students master new concepts and become more independent in their learning process is so rewarding and such a priority.

Cassi is eager to begin working with students in a one-on-one setting with Extra Mile Tutoring. She will do whatever is necessary to ensure the academic success in the students she works with!

Cassi has been with Extra Mile Tutoring since 2022.

She has over 15 years of teaching experience and has mostly worked with middle school age children during this time.

Crysenith Kirby was born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She has a passion for children, education and mentorship. Crysenith graduated from Spelman College, right here in Atlanta, with her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. She later went on to earning her Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Management from DePaul University in Chicago, IL.

Crysenith has experience tutoring one-on-one and in the classroom at all grade levels from elementary to college. She has a special gift of making tutoring fun and engaging by getting creative and adjusting to the student’s most beneficial learning style. Crysenith is driven and determined to witness her students succeed and further their confidence.

Crysenith has been with Extra Mile Tutoring since 2023.

Deb Longhi is originally from Connecticut. She moved to North Carolina for school and never left. She graduated from the University of N. Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics.

She has worked with students in grades K-12th in many subjects including English, Math, Reading, Science, ESL, and History. She has taught over 15,000 hours of virtual classes since 2017, both one-on-one and group classes. Most recently she tutors and teaches ACT/SAT test prep classes. She strives to tailor her lessons to engage and inspire students. She is patient and creates a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters both academic growth and personal development. She motivates and helps students build the confidence they need to be the most successful version of themselves. Deb will go the extra mile to help her students grow.

He has worked as a High School Engineering and Middle School Math Teacher in Gwinnett and Fayette County Public Schools for over 3 years and now works in the Tech Industry. He currently resides in the East Atlanta Village and enjoys exploring the Atlanta Beltline, Piedmont Park, Krog Street Market, and Ponce City Market!

Jose believes that students receive the most engaging learning experiences when teachers and tutors actively listen to their learning needs and adapt their instruction to fit their learning style.

Jose serves as a 6th-12th Math and Physics tutor. He has been with Extra Mile Tutoring since 2022.

She has taught over 15,000 hours of virtual classes since 2017, both one-on-one and group classes. Most recently she tutors and teaches ACT/SAT test prep classes. She strives to tailor her lessons to engage and inspire students. She is patient and creates a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters both academic growth and personal development. She motivates and helps students build the confidence they need to be the most successful version of themselves. Deb will go the extra mile to help her students grow.

Deb has been with Extra Mile Tutoring since 2024.

Deena graduated from the University of Georgia in 2012 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Always eager to enhance her degree, Deena started taking classes to receive her ESOL endorsement during her first year of teaching. Since then, she has received her Gifted Certification and multiple trainings in the Orton–Gillingham approach. She is currently completing the practicum to become OG certified.
Deena has always had a passion for working with children. At a very young age it was clear that teaching was her calling. She got married in November of 2021 and lives with her husband, two daughters, and two mini golden doodles in West Midtown.
Deena created Extra Mile Tutoring in 2018 to help meet the needs of as many students as possible. As a former elementary school teacher, she realized the amount that can be accomplished in a small group and one-on-one environment. Watching her students learn and grow from these small, personalized settings, helped solidify the benefits gained from tutoring.
She believes in planning creative, individualized lessons designed to engage each student, promote confidence, and keep students learning. She has grown Extra Mile Tutoring from these ideals, adding other highly qualified, passionate tutors to the team that share her same teaching beliefs and goals. Deena cares about all her students and will continue to go the extra mile to ensure all EMT students are receiving the instruction needed to reach their educational goals, while fostering a love for learning.

Jose attended Mercer University and earned his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering in 2016 and his Masters in Education in 2018. He has worked as a High School Engineering and Middle School Math Teacher in Gwinnett and Fayette County Public Schools for over 3 years and now works in the Tech Industry. He currently resides in the East Atlanta Village and enjoys exploring the Atlanta Beltline, Piedmont Park, Krog Street Market, and Ponce City Market!

Jose believes that students receive the most engaging learning experiences when teachers and tutors actively listen to their learning needs and adapt their instruction to fit their learning style.

Jose serves as a 6th-12th Math and Physics tutor. He has been with Extra Mile Tutoring since 2022.

Mallory Jones grew up in the small town of Eatonton, Georgia. She has worked with young children her whole life and soon realized that teaching was her absolute passion. Mallory attended the University of Georgia and received her degree in Early Childhood Education in 2014. Mallory taught first grade for 4 years in Woodstock, GA. She married her high school sweetheart in 2015 and they have one son named Cooper. They now reside in Watkinsville, GA. GO DAWGS!

Mallory believes that while making learning fun, engaging, and exciting, students are more willing to participate and take risks. Seeing students master new skills and become confident in their learning is her top priority. From her classroom experience, she believes that working with students in a one-on-one setting will allow each student’s needs to be met. Mallory will go the extra mile to help every student be successful.

Mallory serves as the Operations Manager for Extra Mile Tutoring. She also tutors students inmPre-K through 5th grade in all subject areas.

Mallory has been with Extra Mile Tutoring since 2018.
