Extra Mile Tutoring gives guidance to help students overcome individual challenges along with the encouragement they need to promote self-confidence. We are equipped to recognize each child's unique learning style and work to create engaging individualized lessons that ignite new ways of thinking. COMFORTABLE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

No need to worry about driving obligations! We offer virtual sessions or we can come to you!​ We know that confidence for learning begins with instruction in a comfortable environment. Tutoring sessions can take place in the comfort of your own home or in a public location that works best for you and your child. We take the pressure of the classroom away, relaxing the mind and opening the door for exploratory learning. Learning in a familiar location other than a classroom creates an environment where students feel safe to ask questions, participate, and learn in new ways. This presents a clear picture of the student's learning habits and level of understanding, allowing our tutors to support students in the areas they need it the most.

All lessons are planned in advance, making sure they are enjoyable for students and taught in a fun and engaging way. Our energetic tutors help students realize that learning can be exciting and fun. Tutors maximize the use of every minute during the session time frame, but the learning doesn’t stop there! Our lessons go beyond the extent of the tutoring session. After each session, your child’s tutor will provide a feedback form discussing what material was covered during the lesson and optional at home activities to complete between sessions. With the instruction from our dedicated tutors, students will gain confidence inside and outside of the classroom. Students will foster a new positive perception of learning, understanding that they are capable of more than they ever knew before. This along with the educational tools provided by each tutor will enable students to be as successful as possible in more than just a classroom environment.

We understand that every student is different with unique needs and learning goals. To help serve the specific needs of as many students as possible, Extra Mile Tutoring has a wide range of diverse tutors with many different expertises, certifications, and specializations. We make sure students receive personalized instruction from a tutor with experience, training, and the education needed to meet each student’s individual needs.  Before booking a session, we offer a free 15-minute consultation to better understand your child’s needs and what goals you are hoping to achieve from the sessions. COMMUNICATION
Communication is the key to success. Extra Mile Tutoring makes a strong effort to keep an open line of communication with the parents of every student. We are a team working together to achieve the same goal. Before the first session, parents are asked to complete a questionnaire about the student’s interests, learning styles, strengths, and additional information that may be pertinent to their child’s success. With the parents’ permission, tutors can also communicate with the student’s teacher. The student's teacher can inform the tutor about the skills that are currently being taught at school as well as provide feedback on any areas that the teacher feels additional support from a tutor would be beneficial. With this, the tutor will be able to plan the most effective and engaging lessons that are personalized for each individual child.

ASSESSMENTS

During the first session, parents have the option to have their child’s tutor administer a diagnostic assessment which will assess the student’s understanding of every concept in Math and/or Reading/English Language Arts in as little as 45 minutes per subject. These assessments will pinpoint the student’s grade-level proficiency as well as provide insights on knowledge gaps and what he/she is ready to learn next. The tutor will then use this information to create even more individualized lessons catered towards the student’s specific needs. Parents will have access to completed assessment reports which will highlight the child’s understanding of grade-level material and track his/her growth. There is no additional fee for the diagnostic assessment, just our standard hourly tutoring rate. Students have the option of taking the assessment when they are first enrolled with Extra Mile Tutoring and then again at the start of each school year. Additional testing to monitor growth can take place upon request.

ACT TEST PREP BOOTCAMPS

Extra Mile Tutoring offers ACT Bootcamp Courses to give your child the tools and confidence they need to be prepared for the ACT! Students have the option to enroll in our 1-Day Intensive Bootcamp Session for a 5-hour session or our Bootcamp Series Course that meets once a week for 2-hour sessions over a 4 week period. SUMMER PROGRAMS

Extra Mile Tutoring offers week-long summer programs for elementary-aged students. Camp Extra Mile is geared towards rising Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders while Camp Read & Roam is for rising 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Camp Extra Mile gives students a head start into the new school year with an early introduction to the skills and concepts they will see in the upcoming grade level. Camp Read & Roam provides students with a hands-on novel study experience as they visit historical sites in Atlanta connected to the novel read throughout the week.
